The first day of autumn--September 22, 2009.

The first day of autumn--September 22, 2009.

Isle of Candles has announced five new soy lotion candle scents for the autumn season, which began today, September 22, 2009. This year’s fall fragrances are: Apple Orchard, Pear, Rosemary, Sweet Spice and Oatmeal Cookie.

“When the weather turns a little cooler, we like to hand pour candles with fragrances that make you think of autumn,” says Kathy Miller, Isle of Candles owner. “We think of warm cookies straight from the oven, fresh apples and pears, and the sweet spice of Grandma’s baking. We added the Rosemary fragrance because we received so many requests for this fragrant herbal scent.”

These five scents will be available through the fall season, in addition to the 40 fragrances of soy lotion candles Isle of Candles offers year-round. Isle of Candles is a full-service candle store and factory in the Pawleys Island Hammock Shops.

To use the soy candles as a luxurious lotion, simply burn the candle until the pool of soy reaches the container’s edge. Then extinguish the flame and safely dip a finger into the melted soy oil. The soy lotion leaves skin feeling silky smooth. Naturally rich in vitamin E, Isle of Candles’ soy lotion candles are natural skin moisturizers and have been known to relieve eczema, psoriasis, sunburn and insect bites and diminish the appearance of scars.

Soy candles burn longer, cleaner and cooler than regular paraffin wax candles. They are good for the environment and Isle of Candles’ soy lotion candles are good for use on your skin.

Spoil your grandma this weekend with a soy lotion candle to celebrate National Grandparents Day. Grandmas everywhere work their fingers to the bone and deserve some pampering that soy candles can provide.

National Grandparents Day is Sunday, September 13, 2009.

This is my beautiful grandma, Evelyn.

–from the National Grandparents Day Web site.

“The impetus for a National Grandparents Day originated with Marian McQuade, a housewife in Fayette County, West Virginia. Her primary motivation was to champion the cause of lonely elderly in nursing homes. She also hoped to persuade grandchildren to tap the wisdom and heritage their grandparents could provide. President Jimmy Carter, in 1978, proclaimed that National Grandparents Day would be celebrated every year on the first Sunday after Labor Day.”

Am leaving the Palmetto State for a road trip. Will travel roads in North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, Ohio, Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Tennessee. And I’ll have soy candles with me so I can show gift store owners the cool products we make in Pawleys Island, SC.

Want me to stop at specific stores in your neighborhood? Let me know their name and address and I’ll see if I can work them into my schedule. We are selling wholesale nationwide so you can get these great soy lotion candles locally–wherever you live! Send us your suggestions and if we get a new wholesale customer as a result, you just might be rewarded.

Isle’s New Blog File Is Bulging

Welcome to www.HaveYouDipped.com, Isle of Candles‘ new blog where we’re talking about soy, candles, moisturizers and how much fun it is to create soy lotion candles in Pawleys Island, SC–yep, we’re at the beautiful Carolina beaches and we love it here!

Bob, Ken and Mike hustle in the soy candle factory (right behind the store) making custom orders, hand pouring candles for our store’s shelves and filling wholesale soy candle orders.  Janet, Mary Ann and Christie are busy in the retail store introducing visitors from near and far to the Isle experience and inviting everyone who walks through our doors to “take a dip.” And then there is Kathy Miller, Isle of Candles owner, creative mind extraordinaire and the woman who paints everything turquoise blue. She is the reason our blog file is bulging and we’re now putting fingertips to keyboard (gone are the days of “pencil to paper”).

Kathy Miller, Isle of Candles' owner

Kathy wants to share with candle lovers her candle hints, tips and tricks–most of which she learned the hard way. She has incredible candle decorating ideas and knows how to light up a room with fragrance. Kathy has turned Isle of Candles into an oasis of light and she is in Pawleys Island, SC (from Harrisonburg, VA–Go Hokies!) to spread cheer by making hands, feet, elbows and more silky smooth.

Y’all come see us when you can and be sure to “take a dip” when you visit our retail store at the Hammock Shops Village. You never know which soy candles we might be burning that day. Today, it’s Citrus Delight, a favorite for kitchens. Plus, Citrus Delight is wonderful at removing smoke odors from your home.

Welcome to the Isle. Have you dipped?
